Automated Assembly Platform
The drawing (photo #1) shows a concept design of a platform that will raise and lower around the Nacelles of the V-22 Tilt Rotor (photo #5). These structures were static and had to be removed from the facility whenever a different section of the Nacelle was being assembled. By automating the platform the manufacturer was able to save several days during the assembly cycle of each Nacelle. Minarik utilized the Bosch aluminum structural framing material to build the 10' travel lift towers (photo #2 and photo #3). The lift was accomplished by a leadscrew and worm gear actuator driven with Leeson AC motors. The control logic was programmed using an Aromat PLC. Minarik provided this customer with a complete package of platforms (photo #3 [1 of 8 platforms]), lift towers, electrical enclosures, and system programming. Minarik was also on site to supervise the final assembly in the customer's facility.
